Description

The sturdy Salomon Women's Speedcross 5 GTX running shoe delivers performance-oriented support and traction for trail racing and mountain running. A heavily lugged outsole and waterproof construction equip the shoe for demanding terrain and conditions.

The shoe's welded synthetic upper is highly abrasion-resistant and a fully waterproof GORE-TEX liner ensures that your feet stay dry and comfortable. The “anti debris” design of the upper also helps keep stones dust and grit from getting inside the shoe. A protective toe cap softens the impact of rocks and roots. Fit is assured with the lightweight Quicklace system and a streamlined pocket in the padded and gusseted tongue allows you tuck away any excess lacing.

The midsole utilizes Salomon's Energy Cell + compound to simultaneously deliver underfoot cushioning and energy return. A molded Ortholite sockliner enhances comfort and fit. A firm supportive heel offers excellent on-trail stability. The stack height of the heel is 31mm while the forefoot is 21mm resulting in a 10mm drop.

Anticipating the potential for tackling a broad range of conditions and terrain including mud and snow the shoe's non-marking Contagrip rubber outsole utilizes extremely aggressive Chevron lugs to deliver enhanced traction.

Sold in pairs the Salomon Women's Speedcross 5 GTX all-mountain running shoe is available in your choice women's full and half sizes.

Good replacements for my Speedcross 3s

Likes

I bought these to replace my older version of these shoes, which were not GTX. The fit is similar, but with a wider toe box. The larger lugs do seem to offer slightly more grip, especially on rocky and muddy trails. Along with a pair of gaiters, my feet stay dry in wet grass and mud. Overall, I find them to be an improvement over the older version.

Dislikes

The only complaint I can think of is the noticeable noise of the snapback of the shoe. I am not sure if it is the new material of the upper or the difference of the GTX. The sound may go away after more wear, but either way, it is not a deal breaker. Once I get running, I hardly notice it.
