Description

With an ultra-lightweight design and an innovative inflation SpeedValve, the rectangular Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite Max SV sleeping pad is built for ounce-counting backpackers. The mattress utilizes an integrated truss system and a heat-reflecting interior to achieve a 3.2 R-value.

Unlike the limited number of vertical baffles employed by most traditional inflatable mattresses, the pad utilizes horizontal air baffles. While minimizing convective cooling, Therm-a-Rest's Triangular Core Matrix technology and the increased number of baffles help to increase stability and avoid the "inflatable raft" feeling caused by overinflated vertical baffles. In addition, a patent-pending internal reflective barrier actually directs heat back to your body and cold air back to the ground!

The inflatable construction provides a full 2.5" thick support base. Ultra-lightweight, high-tenacity materials offer durability while maintaining an incredibly light packed weight. Soft, textured non-slip surface fabrics offer next-to-skin comfort that reduce sound if you move around on the mattress while sleeping.

While the pad does have a traditional valve for mouth inflation and fine-tuning the firmness of the pad once it is inflated, the integrated SpeedValve is the quickest and most effective way to fully inflate the pad. Open the roll-top SpeedValve, position your mouth several inches from the opening, and blow directly towards the opening. The pressure differential caused by that puff of air actually draws surrounding air into the pad with very little effort on your part and quickly leads to full inflation. Roll the closure shut and you’re all set. When you’re ready to break camp, the auto-reverse valve quickly dumps air and enables you to roll up your pad without the fuss and fight that traditional pads can sometimes be.

The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite Max SV sleeping pad is available in Regular (20" x 72") and Large (25" x 77") size options. Adding additional value, a stuff sack and an emergency field repair kit are included.

  • ThermaCapture technology and Triangular Core Matrix construction provide ultralight warmth without bulk
  • SpeedValve inflates the mattress in half the time of traditional valves
  • 2.5" thickness
  • Packs to the size of a water bottle
  • Auto-reversing SpeedValve deflates mattress quickly
  • Stuff Sack and Repair Kit included

like the item, SV valve is faster than the std valve

I got the large-while I am 6 ft the extra length is nice, the width is a full 25" which allows for movement for a side sleeper such as my self without feeling that I was falling off the pad. I also like the rectangle design verse the mummy pad which I have used for several years it was the NeoAir XLite. The problem with the mummy pad was sore hips, I felt like I was a rotisserie chicken always turning every 15 minutes. My limited experience with the Max pad even through it is the same thickness 2.5 inches, is that I don't turn as often which was not due to hip pain. Not sure if it is the rectangle design, additional length and width, or more air volume but what ever the reason I got a more comfortable night rest. I also think I will like the SV valve for inflating the pad. I purchased the NeoAir mini pump for my previous pad which work out well, but with this concept I will forgo the mini pump and additional batteries. It still takes a few breaths but not as many as with the standard valve. The trade off is NeoAir pad, pump and extra batteries are just a few oz's lighter than the Max SV which at this point is well worth it.

Dislikes

The physical size when rolled up is noticeable larger, than my NeoAir XLite. although one would expect this ie large vs regular, mummy vs rectangle. Thought the SV would work a little better than it has, but understand haven't had a lot of use, per other reviews this should improve with more use ie better process example after a few breaths push the air to the end of the pad, maybe adjusting the blow distance from opening either increase /decrease.
