Whether you’re traveling light but plan to spend nights outside or just want a back-up for emergency situations, the Ultimate Direction FK Bivy is there to answer the call. It weighs less than half a pound, packs down small, and delivers protection from bugs and wind.

Description

The bivy is constructed of 7D Nylon micro-ripstop fabric with a lightweight PU coating to offer minimal weather protection. An extremely lightweight, flexible internal pole system creates internal space but folds down compactly when not in use. A zippered panel of netting helps to enhance breathability while protecting you from mosquitos and other bugs. Sewn-in straps help to position a sleeping pad (sold separately) and keep it in place throughout the night.

The Ultimate Direction FK Bivy is available in Regular (82” length) and Long (88”) size options. A stuff sack is included.

Lightweight Design

Likes

Weight is perfect. Comfortable fits a 0-Degree Down Bag & 2.5" Thick Sleeping Pad. Snug & Warm

Dislikes

The head box support pole setup is flaky & the keeper annoyingly slides off to the side. Bivvy is best served with a LONG & WIDE sleeping pad to fill the bottom. Regular sized pads (Thermarest) don't fill the base entirely and the sides ride up on you. Without an Oversized sleeping pad the head box can become claustrophobic.

Why did I carry a tent for so long?

I love it. It weights less than - well, I can't find anything to compare it to. A t-shirt? Quick to set up, although the hoops take a little bit of practice. Much warmer than I expected too, since you're only heating a small amount of air and your surface area to lose heat from is much smaller than a tent. I think it would hold up in light rain, but I'm a fair-weather camper so it's a moot point.
