Built to go the distance, the Ultimate Direction Men's Fastpack 40 enables thru-hikers and endurance adventurers to push deep into the backcountry at a pace not possible in a larger, more cumbersome pack.
The pack is constructed of lightweight, high-tenacity fabrics that have a balanced combination of durability and breathability. Despite weighing just 25.2 ounces, the pack can effectively carry two full water bottles (not included), a full hydration system (sold separately), and a ton of backcountry essentials. Padded/ventilated straps and edging throughout the pack body provide a comfortable fit and breathable performance. Ultimate Direction's unique InfiKnit construction incorporates the shoulder straps and backpanel into a single, seamless piece that greatly cuts down on hot spots and maximizes comfort and fit by mirroring the contours of your body. Dual sternum straps with sliding adjustability help you to really dial in fit. The pack is available in Small/Medium (25"-40" measurement taken around the bottom of the ribs) and Medium/Large (30"-48") sizes. NOTE: When full of gear, the pack will fit smaller. A minimalist waistbelt is included for supporting heavier loads, but it can be removed entirely when not needed.
The pack offers 2441 cubic inch of total storage capacity. The main compartment has a roll-top closure that protects contents and enables the pack to cinch down compactly when not filled to full capacity. You can also access the pack without undoing the roll-top through a zippered front entry. An internal sleeve makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately). Integrated side compression straps also help in load stabilization whether the pack is full or relatively empty. On the face of the pack is a large, elastic shove-it pocket that easily stows discarded layers and other essential gear. Large mesh side pockets are ideal for water bottles or other gear. On the chest portion of the harness there are multiple pockets, two of which are large enough to carry water bottles (not included). The pack also features numerous lash points, including dual low-profile daisy chain attachment points, trekking pole attachments, and ice axe loops.
