In my opinion, there is really only one utensil needed for backpacking meals: the spork. I prefer this spork because it is super lightweight, but strong and easy to use. The wide spoon bowl really helps me shovel food when I’m super hungry after a hard day on trail. And the extra long handle works well when eating from deep freeze dried meal packets too. Since the fork tongs are a bit sharp, I attach this spork to the outside of my pack during the day so it doesn’t damage any of my gear.

Nice, light utensil.

Light, durable eating utensil.

Dislikes

It can be hard to find a place in the pack for this since the tongs are quite pointy. I don't personally get much value out of the tongs anyway.
