Description

A lightweight alternative to a warm-weather sleeping bag, the Sierra Designs Nitro Quilt 35 Degree is open on one side in order to fully utilize your sleeping pad for under-body insulation and padding. While not for everyone, the innovative design saves weight and provides versatility.

The quilt is insulated with 800-fill DriDown water-resistant insulation. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet; but DriDown performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry longer and dries faster, should it become wet, than untreated down. Perhaps most impressively, this allows the insulation to retain 98% of its loft which translates into maintained warmth that untreated down bags simply cannot achieve. A 15D nylon ripstop shell further protects the insulation from the elements.

Insulated interior hand pockets in the corners help you wrap the quilt around your body for greater warmth.

With a trail weight of just 1 pound, 4 ounces, the Sierra Designs Nitro Quilt 35 Degree fits individuals up to 6’ 3". A stuff sack and storage sack are included.

  • 800 FP Fluro-carbon free DriDown
  • 15d nylon ripstop fabric
  • Oversized design/larger size maximizes comfort and coverage
  • Full-length, insulated hand/arm pockets help to seal out drafts and seal in warmth
  • Hide-away hood provides insulation for your head when temps drop
  • EN rated/tested & proven performance

Love It!

Likes

It's light, warm, nonrestrictive and has an excellent pack size. Works well by itself and as an overquilt for your primary cold weather bag.

Dislikes

Has that weird duck down smell, but that's fine and it probably smells a lot better than I do by day 3. I kind of wish it had additional hand pockets further in from the corners. It doesn't need them, it'd just be nice if it had them. Highly recommended!

Very nice quilt

Likes

High quality quilt. Well constructed, very light, and packs down small. Only have tried it in warmer weather so far, but provided me plenty of warmth and freedom to move around. The quasi-hood seems like it will come in handy for colder weather.

Dislikes

The hand grips on the corners don't come in too handy for me as I am not a back sleeper (but I could see them being useful for others). Also, there is no built-in or included way to strap it to a sleeping pad, so you will have to deal with that, or buy something else to strap it in.
