Description

Equipped with its own internal LED lighting and boasting ultra-lightweight but livable construction, the innovative Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 3 mtnGLO provides premium 3-season backpacking performance for up to three inhabitants.

Stretching a full 90" in length, the interior of the tent is 70" wide at the head and tapers to a width of 62" at the feet. With 41 square feet of interior space and a trail weight of only 3 pounds, 10 ounces, the tent offers ample room for 3 or serves as a super spacious shelter for two. Dual vestibules offer 18 square feet (9 square feet per vestibule) of additional weather-protected external storage space. For trips that call for extra storage, you can use the Copper Hotel HV UL 3 Rainfly (sold separately) to increase overall external storage space to 36 square feet!

Interior mesh pockets and a three-dimensional storage bin at the feet provide places to stash gear and clothes while a media pockets enables headphone/ear bud cord routing from phones or other devices. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Large Wall Gear Loft, Large Trapezoid Gear Loft, or Triangle Gear Loft (all sold separately).

Offering enough light to effectively illuminate the interior of the tent patent-pending mtnGLO technology integrates a strand of LED lights directly into the tent seams. Durable and flexible, the strand holds up to the wear of pitching and tearing down. A simple push-button controller allows you to toggle through On, Off, and 50% brightness settings. The light is powered by 3 AAA batteries (not included) but can also be lit by any USB power source.

The tent’s DAC Featherlite NFL and NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated clips to make setting up the tent fast, easy, and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof of the tent and connects easily via an innovative attachment that pulls the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to maximize the spaciousness of the vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles. Reflecting an overall commitment to maintaining as light a packed weight as possible, superlight aluminum J stakes are included to further secure the freestanding tent.

Ample mesh on the tent body and large D-shaped doors encourages cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane, the ripstop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the tent's seams are seal-taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect the tent from the elements.

The custom-fit Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 3 Footprint (sold separately) can be used to add additional protection beneath the tent from mud, ground water, or sharp objects. If you really want to travel light, you can leave the tent body at home and use just the rainfly, poles, and the footprint to create a tarp-style set-up that weighs just 2 pounds, 13 ounces!

Good tent but I like the old version better.

Likes

Roomy for two adults with 10 days worth of backpacking/hunting gear. I love all of the storage pockets for keeping stuff organized.

Dislikes

I don’t like the new doors as much as my old Krumholtz. I think they should’ve made them have an attachment at one of the corners of the top of the door too. It would make it easier to get in and out without getting wet. In the rain the water really wants to run off of the doors into the tent when going in and out. We tried several different ways of opening the doors(including setting up the awning on trekking poles) and just ended up deciding we don’t like the setup.

Love this tent!

Likes

Lightweight, very easy color coded setup...less than 5 mins, great stakes, inside glow lights are fab!

Dislikes

The porch-style vestibule with hiking poke setup doesn't work as well as I had hoped. Maybe I just need more practice. Chilly on cool mountain nights. Stake the fly in close to the tent to keep in some body heat
