The two-in-one Black Diamond Zip Lantern blurs the lines between a flashlight and a camp lantern. Its lightweight and compact enough to tag along on any backpacking or climbing trip but delivers 150 lumens of illumination.

Description

Five LEDs combined with a frosted globe to provide maximum ambient light output and do so without creating glare. An LED at the base of the Zip throws a precise 90 lumen beam more like what you would expect from a flashlight. The lantern is also equipped with a unique dimming feature and you can operate both the lantern and flashlight from a single low-profile switch. The lantern is powered by 4 AAA alkaline batteries (not included) and a collapsible loop allows you to suspend the lantern from a branch or the interior of your tent.

The Black Diamond Zip Lantern is available in your choice of color options.

Lightweight lantern

Likes

Simple lantern - nice and bright from 4 AAAs. Dimmable by holding the power button. Double click turns on the flashlight with a flood pattern beam, which is also dimmable. On/off switch stays on what was last selected, double click to switch. Frosted lens helps disperse light well but it is still kind of directed.

Dislikes

Moji lantern is better, IMO. That puts out a more dispersed light. This is smaller, picture an oversized zippo lighter. This is lighter even with a fourth battery, but the battery door doesn't shut as tightly, so I wouldn't leave this hanging in the rain or you'd risk frying the electronics.
