This is a pretty simple cookware accessory. Does a great job of keeping any spice stored safely. Mountain House meals usually have a high sodium content to begin with, so I use mine mostly for black and cayenne pepper. The shaker is made out of a heavy but lightweight plastic, and features an additional pour lid under the orange portion on the bottom. This is to be used if the other breaks or gets lost.

Looks like it should work good for a small amount of salt and pepper. Enough to add a little bit of spice to the food on the trail.

Great little salt and pepper shaker. It's small enough to store with my cookware or just about anywhere with no impact and it works great. I would say it holds enough to handle most of my weeklong trips and sure beats baggies.
