Description

The Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree sleeping bag is ideal for 3-season backpacking and camping. Lightweight, hydrophobic DriDown fill and an array of features make the affordable sleeping bag a real bargain.

The Cosmic 20 Degree sleeping bag is insulated with 600-fill power DriDown. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but the DriDown featured in the Cosmic 20 Degree bag performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry longer and dries faster, should it become wet, than that in bags with untreated down.

Baffled construction eliminates cold spots, keeping outside air from reaching the interior of the bag. A draft tube behind the 60" two-way locking zipper, a fully-insulated draft collar, and a contoured hood with an insulated hood baffle further enhance the thermal efficiency of the Cosmic 20 Degree bag. The hood utilizes Kelty's patented FatMan and Ribbon drawcords, allowing you to adjust the top or lower sections of the hood by feel even when it's dark outside. A polyester taffeta liner provides internal comfort.

The Kelty Cosmic 20 Degree sleeping bag is available in Short (fits up to 5’ 6”), Regular (up to 6' 0"), and Long (up to 6' 6") lengths. Each Cosmic 20 Degree bag includes a stuff sack.

Good deal if on a budget

Likes

Roomy, comfortable, very durable, decent features, and of course, awesome color!

Dislikes

Dosen't quite cut it for summer use at high altitudes, but I'm 5' 11" 135lbs so I get cold easily. Isn't very lofty, which makes sense because they store it in a stuff sack straight out of the factory. Down shouldn't be compressed when being stored for long durations. It ruins the down's ability to loft. You get what you pay for.

I’m a big fan of this sleeping bag. It’s very comfortable and keeps me warm. The only gripe that I have is with the zipper. It just so doesn’t feel like it’s strong enough to last for a very long time.

Best budget bag ever

Likes

I bought this for my dad who is just dipping his toes into backpacking. The quality of this bag is unreal compared to the cost. I think the is one of if not the best budget entry bags on the market. Bag is aesthetically pleasing and has a nice non constrictive fit (5'9 150 lb)

Dislikes

None so far. It checks all the boxes for what I was looking for in an entry level bag.

Great Bag. Great Price

Likes

My wife and I bought these bags for our 6 kiddos. We are not millionaires, so our options were limited. Though this is not the lightest bag, it is a down filled option and most importantly it is warm enough to keep our kiddos sleeping through the night. At this price point you can not beat these bags!

Dislikes

The bags did not come with a unicorn. My girls were not happy.

Finally slept comfortably!

Likes

I tend to be cold at night and this bag did the trick for me. It was around 32 degrees and I was comfy. Seems well-made. My brother has had his for a few years and still loves it. I paired it with an eVent Compression Dry Sack (size medium is perfect, with just a bit of extra room for spare socks or outfit). The compression sack probably reduces its volume by about 30%, so not critical for everyone, unless keeping the bag dry is also important to you! In my research, I decided I'd have to spend almost twice the price to get a noticeable improvement in weight or size. This bag hits the right mark for me (I backpack or bikepack a few times a year for a couple of nights each trip).

Dislikes

The way the zipper terminates at the top seems a little odd, with a couple of flaps that don't quite overlap like I would expect. Definitely not a big deal though.

Disappointed

Likes

I own a 6 degree bag by Kelty and was looking for something lighter in weight, which this one is. I thought this was going to work for me, but a week long sheep hunt in Colorado proved different. It got down to the mid 30’s every night and I had to wear everything I brought. I even ended up wrapping the foot box with my rain jacket. The bag was long enough for my 6’ frame and if I didn’t have to wear all that I did would have been wide enough. Also the zipper caught every time and made it very frustrating getting in and out. I ended up returning it and getting a refund.

Dislikes

Cold spots, zipper catches.

20 degree bag??

Likes

Lightweight, have always been a Kelty guy.

Dislikes

I returned the bag after 1 night of use. This should be rated as a 35 degree bag. Up at 5000 ft last month in the North Cascades it got down to 30-35 and I was not warm in this bag.
