Description

Named for its innovative, encircling overhead support pole, the Marmot Halo 6P offers 96.7 square feet of interior space for base camping or family camping. The tent is an ideal option when elbow room and overhead height are a priority.

In addition to its cavernous interior, the tent includes integrated vestibules that offer a combined 64 square feet (32 square feet per vestibule) of sheltered exterior storage space. Large doors provide convenient access from either end of the tent. Interior pockets offer additional storage.

DAC DA17 aluminum poles lend the tent sturdy, freestanding support. A unique pole design combines two sections to form a hoop that encircles the entire top of the tent, helping to pull the walls taut and vertical, increasing the overall peak height and creating additional sturdy support for the rainfly. NOTE: Upon initial use, the poles that give the tent its "halo" name will bend slightly and even when collapsed the poles will no longer be perfectly straight. This is by design and is not indicative of a defect or any lack of structural integrity.

The main body is a combination of durable polyester taffeta and breathable No-See-Um mesh. Integrated "close canopy" panels add a measure of modularity and privacy. The polyester ripstop fly and polyester floor both have water-resistant coatings that ensure protection from the elements. The catenary cut floor also helps to keep you dry as do the taping applied to all seams of the tent. The compatible, custom-fit Halo 6P footprint, sold separately, can be used to further protect the floor of the tent from sharp objects, mud, and ground water.

Great tent. Worth the cost

Likes

Spacious and really nice. Love the vents and the color coding of tabs, clips and poles.

Dislikes

Not sure about all the stakes. Seems a little short on stakes and guy lines. Somewhat tricky to set up by yourself.

Spacious & well made

Likes

Very spacious interior, decent adjustable ventilation, quality materials and well made. Vestibule size.

Dislikes

A little challenging for one person getting rain fly over the tent.

Nice tent!

Likes

I've used it about 4 times in the back yard. It has had a night of 'normal' rain with no leaks. One night the temp dropped 20+ degrees and only had condensation in the front entry on the fly. Pretty sturdy as is so I think it would be sturdy in wind if tied down.

Dislikes

Only had 4p in the tent - I think 6pm would be a stretch. Not so much a dislike, but I was hoping I could setup myself, but the pole length and tent weight.. I need another person for that step.

Spacious Tent

Likes

An awesome amount of space for me, my partner, and our baby. Love that we can stand up and change and that there is room inside for all of our gear. Great vestibule areas and sturdy air vents. Nice reflective details to locate our camp in the dark. Set up was fairly simple with two of us, but I would definitely have a tough time on my own. The halo was easy to put up. Definitely get the footprint.

Dislikes

A tent this big is unavoidably heavy, which is the trade-off for space.

Best Car Camping Tent

Likes

Been looking for the best car camping tent and eventually got the Halo 6. My decision were based on the following: two big vestibules and the awesome front one, full fly coverage, tougher floor, ventilation for the fly, front and back door with zippered panels and all mesh on top for night sky viewing. The two side zippered panels for added ventilation were a plus. Im 6'1" and stand inside the tent. I love the square shape for maximum area usage. The inside is HUGE!!!!

THE perfect family car camping tent

Likes

Purchased this tent for car camping with my wife and 2 boys and this tent hits all of the marks, and then some - spacious comfort, vertical walls - this thing is a home away from home - I'm 6'3" and can STAND in this tent (huge plus) - HUGE vestibule can serve a multitude of purposes - Excellent ventilation - Full coverage - sheltered in this tent during an absolute 3-hour, wind-driven downpour and had zero issues with leaks, even with vents opened. - Easy to set up with two people

Dislikes

- May be a touch large (by a couple of inches) for some State/National Park tent pads. Not a knock on the tent itself.

Great high-quality tent

Likes

I've used this tent twice. The poles feel very strong and the tent is very stable. The floor space is huge and at 6'1" I can stand up comfortably around the middle. My 9 yr old daughter and I set the tent up in about 10 minutes without any problems. I have confidence the tent will perform well in bad weather and that it will last for many years.

Dislikes

The tent bag is a little small. I like REI's backpack style bags, where you can put the tent on one side, the fly on the other side, and the poles in a separate pocket. I wish I could fold it back the way it was when it originally came out of the pack.

Amazing quality tent for Camping / Car Camping / Festivals

Likes

This is my first tent purchase and use, and I could not be happier with the level of research and help from Taylor of Backcountry Edge as one of their incredibly knowledgeable staff. I was able to talk to him on the phone and ask many questions that helped me reach the conclusion and to finally pull the trigger on buying a tent larger than myself is tall for ample standing and floor room. The Marmot 6P Halo tent was a breeze to set up and having purchased the footprint for this tent from Marmot I was completely set to have it shipped and in time for my first weekend out with it. The breathable tent body and ventilation with the rainfly added to my comfort under the stars. I set the whole tent up with only needing help for a moment to stabilize the tent body into the grommets of the footprint, otherwise I set it up by myself which is awesome for such a larger tent. Car camping is what I am getting into at the moment but this purchase and quality of materials with the expertise from such a staff has made me confident in my journey to continue getting out each weekend and taking in all that my wonderful state of MN has to offer. Support local business and physical people when getting into gear as it has been such a rewarding experience to work with this website and company. Keep making informational videos and product reviews and offering the best prices with incentives to your buyers and I will be sure to recommend this tent and company to others. Cheers!

Dislikes

Nothing to dislike on this tent as I again did many hours of research and product video reviews from others to narrow down the right choice for my needs and camping style.

Exactly what I've been looking for

Likes

The things I like best about this tent are: the side windows have inside zip up nylon covers for the screens so you can close them for privacy and to keep the wind off, or open them for views and ventilation. That's hard to find these days. The halo poles are terrific to keep the sides of the tent more vertical for increased head room, it really makes a difference. The size of the 6p is just right for car camping for two people. We have a queen size bed in the middle and a backpack suitcases on each side, along with a few extra things, and it's got just enough space to move around and get dressed comfortably. The round screened top of the tent is awesome for star viewing. The fabric of the tent, screen, and floor feels substantial and should last a very long time. And, it's fast and easy for two people to set up.

Best Tent Ever - Does Everything

Likes

Great tent for car camping. I'm 6'3' and since a typical camping trip involves changing from hiking gear to golfing clothes, to mountain biking gear, wanted a tent tall enough to stand up in. This works, in spades. I like the square floor dimensions - can set up the tent in any orientation. With the nearly vertical walls, has more than enough room for me and my wife, and a ton of gear. Although a large tent, it can be set up by one person. Great ventilation, even with the rain fly on since the entire vestibules (or just their doors) can be tied back. Apparently an upgrade from the previous models, the large main door screen has a zipped privacy panel, so you can leave the vestibule tied back for ventilation AND still get some privacy.

Spacious Oasis

Likes

I bought this tent for trips with more people. Previously I was using the Marmot Halo 4p (older version). This tent is super spacious and simple to set up with two people. I still love the halo design and I appreciate the changes made in the new 2018 version. There is increased privacy when not using the fly. The windows on the door close completely and the polyester on the sides goes up higher. The larger front vestibule is also a great addition.

Dislikes

I miss the giant storage pockets of the older marmot halo. I'm not sure that creating a super large door was worth sacrificing that storage.
