Water is a necessity!

Likes

Efficient, well engineered design; easy to use even for my 7 year old daughter; minimal effort required to obtain fresh water; plenty of tubing included in case you have to pump from above the river off a bank; perfect for my family of 3 (2 adults & child) or when I go solo/with friends; long filter life; easy to clean either at home or in the field

Dislikes

The size/weight could be a negative, but you can only get so small & lightweight before the product gets shoddy. That being said, I can shed weight & readjust packing to accommodate this, so not really sure if this counts as a negative/dislike.

Easy to use!

Dislikes

The bag it comes in has mesh on one side--- great for storage, but in my pack I end up with little dribbles. Ended up using a ziplock Baggie to prevent my things from getting water on them.

The life of the filter and the fact that it is easily cleaned/maintained are what sold me on this filtration system. It is well built, made from durable materials and easy to use. Very simple design. Also mates with most bottles.

Dislikes

Weight is something of a negative, but not killer. This is essential gear. Willing to sacrifice a little here for dependability. Had the Platypus filter had the same kind of life, I probably would have gone that route - that's as simple as simple gets.

Bought this for my son in Germany. He is planning on biking and camping in Europe. I already have MSR MiniWorks EX Microfilter and love it. Works really great and nice to have with you when the water is in question..I also bike and camp but in the United States. Wouldn't go out without it..

Dislikes

I don't have any complaints at this time.

This is a great little pump. I've used it on two trips now with no problems what so ever. It's easy to clean, easily attaches to nalgene bottle, and fills it quickly. I also use the steri pen to treat the water after filtering.

I have been on several of those "Just around the bend till were there" 20 mile plus hikes in which I did not have enough water for but pushed through anyway. Lights out? Bring on the storm, I've got the Dipping Spoon!

Great water filter. Leaves the water tasting pure and clean.

Dislikes

A little slow to fill a 32oz bottle, but that may have just been due to my frozen hands.

Easily the best filter on the market for the price. MSR has been the studio standard for years and the MiniWorks Filter is no exception. It filters nearly everything without the use of batteries or chemicals. And it is completely field serviceable if need be. In my experience I have never questioned the safety of my water after processing it through the MiniWorks, but if you're worried about bacteria just give the filtered water a quick boil. The lasting self-sufficiency of this filter far exceeds the hype of newer flashy filters and sterilizers.

Dislikes

There is nothing I do not like.
