Description

The MSR PocketRocket Deluxe builds on the foundation of the long-lived, award-winning PocketRocket canister stove, but adds a pressure regulator and a durable piezo igniter, all at a weight of just 2.9 ounces!

The integrated pressure regulator maintains stove’s fast boil times even in cold weather or with low fuel.

The reliable piezo-electric sparker makes for easy lighting with gloves or cold, numb fingers. The spark igniter is protected inside the burner. A broad burner improves wind resistance. Simmer-level control offers cooking versatility unexpected in such a tiny package.

The stove can boil a liter of water in an average of 3.5 minutes with the use of a canister of MSR IsoPro fuel. NOTE: The canister is not included and is not available for online purchase.

  • Integrated pressure regulator
  • Piezo-electric sparker

Nice Stove

Likes

I am getting this to finally upgrade from my amazon special. I liked that it had a regulator and piezo ignition. I also like that it came with a bag, which I find more convenient than a bulky hard case. I am still waiting to confirm that this works with my incoming FireMaple heat exhanger pot (the one with slits in the bottom to securely mount to a 120 degree 3-prong stove) but

Dislikes

High price. I used a coupon, which made it doable (thanks Enwild!)

The one!

Likes

I tested the boil time with this stove versus three other stoves and this brought the water to a boil the fastest. Lightweight, packs small and great for backpacking.

Self Contained Stove

Likes

The built in igniter is really fantastic! Lighting the stove at the push of a button eliminates the fear of singed eyebrows! This product really works perfectly. It is amazingly small and light. We paired it up with the MSR PIKA kettle for the ultimate compact, ultralight, backpacking kitchen. The PocketRocket folds up perfectly to fit inside the PIKA kettle. Really a very refined, precision, high quality product.

Fast and Easy

Likes

Easy to use and boils water quickly. Also super lightweight. I really like this stove.

Dislikes

The integrated piezo lighter failed after a few uses. This wasn't a big deal since it's easy to light, but I would have liked it to last!

Ideal

I love this stove. The PR2 was great and this has the right amount of engineering updates. Some may or may not like or need certain things but Im glad I have one.

Dislikes

Nothing to dislike.

Powerful and well-built

Likes

You've got a very powerful jet in the form of a stove here. At 11,000 BTUs, you're going to be boiling water and cooking meals pretty quickly. The biggest sells for me when I purchased this were the piezo igniter, concave design of the burner for some wind-resistance, and the pressure regulator. The construction is excellent; something you would expect from an MSR product.

Dislikes

This stove eats A LOT of fuel. Also opt for a 4-pot support if you're going to be using pans 8" and above for better stability/support.

Best upright canister stove I've owned

Likes

Though I'm yet to see one that didn't eventually fail, this appears to be the most durable Piezo igniter design I've seen. Boil times, as well as wind and cold performance are exceptional. At 2.7 oz it is .4 oz lighter than its only real competition, the Soto Windmaster 4flex. Stable pot support arms (for an upright canister stove). Can nest into my Snow Peak Trek 700 with a small fuel canister if taken out of the storage sack.

Dislikes

High cost. The Pocket Rocket 2, Soto windmaster 4flex, and the Soto Amicus are all cheaper and for only a slight decrease in performance.

Better performer, but bigger size

Likes

Performs better than the Pocket Rocket 2 Constant regulated flame Much better wind protection Easy to use piezo igniter, and so far reliable in wet conditions

Dislikes

Bigger size than Pocket Rocket 2, does not fit in Titan kettle pot with fuel canister
