Description

Designed to support backcountry meal preparation for small groups (2-4 backpackers), the radiant-heated MSR WindBurner Group Stove System delivers consistent, all-condition performance. The set includes a nesting stove, a large-capacity sauce pot, and a strainer lid.

The stove's state-of-the-art burner utilizes two modes of heat transfer, convective and radiant, to ensure that maximum performance is achieved regardless of conditions. The burner is enclosed in a heat exchanger, protecting it fully from the wind and positioning heat where you need it, directly underneath your cooking pot. As a result, heat loss is minimal and cooking time is greatly reduced. Average boil time is 6.2 minutes. An internal pressure regulator equalizes fuel pressure and guarantees a consistent heat output in all temperatures. This frees you from worrying about poor performance in cold weather and makes certain that you are best able to take advantage of any and all fuel available in your 4 ounce or 8 ounce IsoPro fuel canister (sold separately and not available for purchase online). An included folding canister stand helps to stabilize the entire system when in use.

With a built-in heat exchanger that ensures efficiency, the 2.5 liter hard-anodized aluminum WindBurner Sauce Pot is designed to work hand-in-hand with the stove itself and has a Durable Fusion ceramic non-stick surface for consistent heating and easy clean-up. An integrated handle makes the pot safer to use and it folds down neatly when not in use. The pot is also designed to hold and carry the entire system as a single nested unit. Together, the stove and cooking pot weigh 20.8 ounces. A strainer lid bolsters cooking efficiency and makes serving more convenient.

  • NOTE: Requires the use of an MSR IsoPro fuel canister (sold separately and not available for online purchase)
  • Pressure regular ensures constant performance even as canister pressure drops in colder temperatures or with low fuel
  • Radiant burner and 100% primary air combustion provide windproof fuel-efficient performance
  • Integrated heat exchanger maximizes heat transfer for rapid boil times
  • Fusion nonstick ceramic-coated 2.5 L Sauce Pot serves 2-4 people
  • Features enclosed, heat-capturing ring
  • Pot nests stove and 8 oz fuel canister
  • Anti-topple remote canister design and self-centering pots

Works well, wish nesting would have been considered more in design

Likes

This pairs well with the Windburner skillet and Personal mug - gives a lot of options for cooking for 2-4 people. Exceptionally fuel efficient design and fast heating, with great control for simmering, etc. This stove nested well inside the Windburner Personal mug I already owned.

Dislikes

You need a flame source (matches, lighter) to start the stove, just like the Windburner Personal. No piezo/spark start. The pot is great, but doesn't nest will with the (admittedly purchased separately) skillet. Some minor tweaks could have made for a phenomenal group cook set with mix and match capability.
