This has rugged materials, external lash points, removable waist belt, and the Y zipper. I bought this for bush wacking, and as an extra pack for climbing trips so I prioritized durability over weight. The bottle pockets are nice and deep on the outside, and there is also a sleeve on the inside to keep bottles for a more streamlined profile. The Y zipper allows you to get to those pockets easily, and you don't have to spill all your contents out to get to them. There are lots of zipper pull tabs which does give the bag an overall messy profile, however the zippers are stout and, I almost always need two hands to get the zipper started. Again, I'd rather use two hands on a burly zipper vs one hand on a lightweight one.
It hugs nicely to my back which is comfortable, but also causes it to sweat. If this pack is for you to "go fast, go far", there are lighter packs with lighter materials and less features.
Great day and short hike pack
Brilliant for shorter hikes. Taken it to Colorado, perfect for shorter day or overnight hikes. Very comfortable
New Daypack MR Scree 32
Lots of room for daypack or minimal overnight. Waist belt and yoke/harness very comfortable. I have done 3 day hikes with it so far maybe 18 miles with it. Love the Y opening on the pack to immediately get to all the gear in the bottom. I like the internal side pockets as well. Daisy Chain and trekking pole bunnies/ice axe loops. Side compression is good and like the water bottle pockets. One note on size I am 6 ft 1 in and 185 lbs have 18.5 in torso and 36 in waist. The L/XLe was the way to go. I bought both the s/m and l/xl to try on and returned the s/m. Great Customer service on the return as well quick and easy.
Might be nice to have a few more pockets and I did see the water bladder hook is not present on this pack. Not a big deal to me as I don't normally run a water bladder if I did I would probably add one myself. So far really digging this pack for day hikes
If your size is in stock get it. I prefer loading this to larger packs with a bottom opening unless I just have to have the larger volume. It just works, nice design. The materials seems to be holding up just fine.
love the designs. it's unique and wild color. and I love sturdy straps.
it's heavier than I thought, still great!
Backpack suitable for normal rest and fun
I hardly realize I have it on when carrying a decent load-out. The daisy chain webbing on the front, is super practical. The simple Y zipper system allows you to filet the pack and access any piece of gear you need without having to unload and reload your pack. I love the single cargo main bucket compartment. it allows unrestricted access to the total volume, without having little pockets and side pouches get in my way.
