Description

Combining its hard-earned reputation as a rugged load-hauling option for extended backpacking trips with the revolutionary Anti-Gravity suspension the Osprey Aether AG 70 offers a dynamic responsive fit 4000+ cubic inches of storage capacity and a weight-carrying capacity of up to 60 pounds!

Osprey's innovative Anti-Gravity suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency breathability and a contoured fit. A broad-mesh tensioned backpanel stretches all the way out across the lumbar portion of the pack. Though the pack maintains constant responsive contact with the wearer warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh a peripheral LightWire aluminum frame. A sliding sternum strap and adjustable load-lifter straps further enhance fit.

Accommodating backpackers of different heights the pack is available in your choice of sizes. The Small size fits torsos ranging from 16”-19” the Medium fits from 18”-21” the Large fits from 20”-23” and the Xlarge accommodates torso lengths ranging from 22”-25”. An Anti-Gravity IsoForm harness and a fully-padded moldable IsoForm hipbelt maximize performance fit and comfort.

The pack’s large main compartment is reached through a traditional top-loading access point but a large J-shaped zipper on the front of the pack also allows quick access to the interior. Additionally a lower compartment serves as a dedicated spot for stowing your sleeping bag or other clothes and gear. A removable divider enables you to open up the interior to create a single spacious compartment. A large front pocket utilizes welded stretch woven fabric to serve as a convenient storage spot for discarded layers or other gear. Elastic side pockets are ideal for stashing water bottles or other smaller items. Integrated hipbelt pockets provide a spot to keep essentials close at hand. Side compression straps enable you to cinch down your pack to keep contents safely and securely in place and also double as lash points for additional gear. Buckled straps that pass over the front of the packbag are designed to further enhance the compressibility of the pack and provide yet another place to lash gear. A removable top lid protects the contents of the pack and can be removed entirely to save weight . Adding increased versatility the lid also serves as a streamlined stand-alone daypack with its own minimalist shoulder straps an adjustable sternum strap and an internal hydration sleeve.

Other features include integrated Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loops ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs removable sleeping pad straps and an internal sleeve that makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).

Great overall pack

Likes

• Pocket orientation is great, easy to compartmentalize different gear. • I can actively feel the mesh shedding heat as I hike. • Sits comfortably on the back. • Plenty of room for multi day trips in the wilderness or car. • Detachable lid turns into a pack that is super useful for short trips with most of your gear at camp/in the car. • Water bladder compartment in the large bag and the detachable is a huge plus.

Dislikes

• The sleeping bag compartment opening is very small compared to others I have used. Anything other than a quality 3 season bag that squishes down small will force you to unstrap the divider between the compartment and the rest of the bag.

High Quality

Likes

Interchangeable hip belt and shoulder harness, super high quality materials, love the orange color, comfortable for heavy loads, tons of attachment points, rear access

Dislikes

Didn't quite fit my body as well as the Atmos, especially with lighter loads (25-30 lbs in my case), with it had a couple additional pockets in rear

Great backpack!

Likes

I like how the hip belt takes the load off lower back. Nice option to remove top cover off and use as day pack. Recently use in Sequoia, very comfortable when loaded with gear! Very smart design and functional backpack. Highly recommend.

Great pack overall!

Likes

Very comfortable, I'm assuming even more so once I have it adjusted properly. Plenty of room. Love how the top transforms into legit day pack. The 'J' zipper access to main compartment is prime!

Dislikes

Wish there were more external pockets. My old pack had four external pockets that were very useful! I don't like how the two side pockets are not fully enclosed.

Excellent large volume pack. I don't come close to the advertized capacity (60 lbs), but have hit 30 lbs. Pack adjustments allow you to conform the fit. Quite satisfied with this product and would recommend to all. Have not used for an extended trek yet.

Likes

- Capacity - Design - form, fit, and function - harness adjustments customize fit, pack straps assist in tightening load, waist belt provides solid support - Backcountry Edge's exceptional service

Very Nice Pack

Likes

Removable top lid daypack, extreme comfort, good carrying capacity. The J zipper on the main compartment makes it easier to find things in the bottom. Nice to have a dedicated sleeping bag compartment. Overall this is a true top of the line pack that is probably as comfortable as they get.

Dislikes

Some literature says the hydration sleeve is between the shoulder strap harness and the pack (outside). There appears to be a sleeve to put the bladder in, but no strap to hold it in place and keep it from slumping. That is on the inside, where there is definitely a sleeve for the bladder. Inside location makes it almost impossible to put the bladder in if the pack is loaded, so they need to finish off putting it outside.
