Description

Looking for a lightweight comfortable "do everything" soft shell? The Outdoor Research Men's Ferrosi Hooded Jacket is so comfortable and functional you're going to want to wear it on every hike climb and paddling trip you take and the abrasion-resistant fabric ensures a long life of adventure.

The jacket's combination of fabrics offers freedom of movement durability and breathability. Cordura and spandex are used throughout the shoulders and arms while ripstop nylon with spandex in the body and hood create maximum breathability and promote movement. This hybrid construction makes the jacket wind-resistant water-resistant (not waterproof) and highly breathable. An adjustable hood extends coverage and can be cinched down to fit around the face in breezy conditions. A drawcord hem and elastic cuffs with thumb loops enhance fit and help to seal out cold air.

Other features include UPF 50+ sun protection zippered hand pockets a small zippered chest pocket and an integrated carabiner loop and key clip. The left hand pocket even doubles as a stuff sack for the jacket.

Available in your choice of color and size options the Outdoor Research Men's Ferrosi Hooded Jacket has a standard fit that allows you to wear low-profile baselayers or midlayers beneath it or pull a heavier hardshell or insulated jacket on over top of it.

Great All Around Layer

Likes

I usually wear a ton of sweat shirts every day but this was so much better. I used it in a range between 80-55 degrees and preformed great. It does breath and the stretchy materials gives me free range of motion when making fires, camping, going through brush using an axe for firewood. I didn't need to take if off chopping wood just unzipped it and pulled the sleeves up. The sleeves stay in place on my forearm and will not move once placed so i can use the axe, knife and work on the fire without having to keep adjusting. Didn't snag on branches and under brush and held up well in the woods. Great piece of gear that replaced all those cotton sweat shirts.

Dislikes

As this material is stretchy the pocket that is on the chest that is like the North Face cell phone pocket is a good size to fit iPhone 11 pro but the phone due to the weight would flop around. Not a big deal as i just carried my phone in my pants pocket.

Lovely jacket but be careful with a heavy pack

Likes

Bought for my boyfriend, who tends to be either a small or medium.. he was on the upper end of the size chart for a small so we went with the medium. Definitely was the way to go. He is 5' 7" and 150 lbs or so. This jacket breathes very well and offers good wind protection. He wore it hiking over a t-shirt on a cooler day trip where the temp ranged 50-60 degrees and stayed comfortable the whole time! It is a popular jacket and we see why!

Dislikes

The jacket seems as it has good potential to wear quickly under a backpack. We notice some ever so subtle pilling after just a couple of long days under the pack. Probably not the jacket for heavy backpacking but great for light hikes with minimal/no loads carried (or casual walks).
