Description

Delivering flexible fit and support and incorporating a multi-fit footbed system the Salewa Men's Rapace GTX boot offers agile performance stability and comfort for light mountaineering technical alpine routes or multi-day backpacking trips.

A 1.8mm Nubuck leather and synthetic upper provides a combination of durability comfort and breathability. Providing weatherproof assurance even in rain or snow a GORE-TEX Performance Comfort membrane keeps water out of the boot while allowing your foot to breathe. A 360-degree rubber rand encases the base of the boot to bolster protection against rocks and roots. A climbing-style collar-to-toe lacing system allows users to get a more custom fit.

Salewa's 3F system creates an anatomical fit that works with the asymmetry of the human foot and results in less movement in the heel of the boot less rubbing and less potential for blisters. A high-cut flexible collar provides stability but still enables your ankle to flex comfortably and maintain an agile stride. A “Y”-shaped wire connection spreads the lacing three-dimensionally to hug the entire foot and better control the movement of the heel.

A nylon and fiberglass Blight Midsole offers cushioning and enhances comfort. The supportive platform delivers underfoot protection for descending or climbing rocky ridges. A unique multi-fit footbed provides modularity for a roomier or closer overall fit. A deep-lugged Vibram WTC rubber outer sole provides the ideal mixture of durability and grip for rock scrambling or alpine routes. Expecting top-of-the-mountain usage the outsole is crampon-compatible.

Sold in pairs the Salewa Men's Rapace GTX boot is available in men's full and half sizes.

Outstanding lightweight mountaineering boot

Likes

This boot is the most precise, technical mountaineering boot I've used in 40 years of hiking and alpine climbing. It is comfortable and light weight. It is an excellent combination of rigidity and flex to minimize fatigue on rocky trails like the White Mountains of NH but very comfortable for less technical hiking.

Salewa repace

Likes

I really was excited to get these boots. The boots were very well made. The attention to detail was obvious. I don't know if I got a pair of defective boots but the sole was uncomfortably hard when walking or standing.

Dislikes

The sole was hard under my feet. I replaced the stock foot beds. I tried using numerous foot beds and could not get enough cushion between the bottom of my feet and the boot sole. It was so uncomfortable it would have been brutal on the trail or mountain.
