The performance delivered by the Salewa Men's Wildfire Edge Mid GTX boot completely blurs the line between an approach shoe and a full-fledged hiking boot. Customizable lacing lateral support a precision fit and confident traction and grip combine to tackle anything you throw at the boot.
The suede leather and microfiber mesh upper has an EXA Shell “cage' that wraps around the midfoot to maximize stability without inhibiting breathability. This design also increases durability as does an extended front rubber cap that protects your toes and forefoot from rocks and roots. A waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX membrane keeps feet dry and comfortable. A climbing-style collar-to-toe lacing system allows users to get a more custom fit and the positioning of the lacing can be modified to switch from “hike” to “climb” mode. A pliable cuff increases stability while still offering a forgiving fit. An integrated stretch gaiter helps to keep dust stones and other trail debris out of the boot.
Salewa's 3F system creates an anatomical fit that works with the asymmetry of the human foot and results in less movement in the heel of the shoe less internal rubbing and in turn reduced overall potential for blisters. A “Y”-shaped connection spreads the lacing three-dimensionally to hug the entire instep and better control the movement of the heel.
Underfoot an EVA midsole and a cushioned Ortholite footbed work in tandem to provide all-day comfort and reduce fatigue. An edging plate provides stiffness beneath the toes for enhanced climbing precision without inhibiting the overall flexibility of the shoe.
The shoe's performance-oriented POMOCA outsole delivers the sticky grip you'd expect from an approach shoe while also offering reliable traction for surfaces other than rock. The unique compound and lug patterning ensure that you stay upright and moving on wet or dry terrain.
Sold in pairs the Salewa Men's Wildfire Edge Mid GTX hiking boot is available in men's full and half sizes.
