Description

Fully waterproof breathable and built specifically for the trail the Sierra Designs Women's Ultralight Trench weighs just 8 ounces and offers for hikers and backpackers extended coverage from wet or windy weather.

Offering pack-compatible 3-season protection the durable Women's Ultralight Trench keeps out rain and wind and offers high breathability. Its 20D polyester/nylon blend features a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment while the polyester backer provides next-to-skin comfort. Awning vents under the arms and additional vents at the hemline maximize airflow without sacrificing protection. The hem vents also allow for backpack hipbelts to pass through without pinching closed the jacket and inhibiting air circulation.

Other features of the Women's Ultralight Trench include a minimally-adjustable hood and two high-set hand pockets that are accessible even if you're wearing a backpack or climbing harness. Available in a variety of size and color options the Sierra Designs Women's Ultralight Trench offers a trim feminine cut that layers well over light to medium weight fleece sweaters or base layers. The longer-length design (31.5" center back length) protects the top of your pants to keep your hips dry.

  • Extra-long length protects your lap and seat from getting soaked
  • Unique hip belt vent allows your torso to vent while wearing a hip belt
  • All new awning vents allow constant air flow under the arms
  • Minimally adjustable hood with stiffened brim
  • Two zippered hand pockets that are accessible above a hip belt
  • Center front zipper with a front flap back flap and a gutter
  • Thin cuff tabs with a half elastic seal adjustment
  • Regular fit with feminine shaping goes over light under layers
  • Waterproof breathable membrane

All the Right Details!

Likes

It fits really well, with a lot of length in the sleeves, one place that often is short on me, and the adjustments on the cuff really help. The hood cinches really nicely, without channeling the rain towards my face, and I can cinch it so that the chin guard covers most of my face without cutting off my field of vision. The seams are really nicely taped, the pockets are set high enough that I can use them even when the pack is on, and hiding the hip belt under the flaps is genius, I'll love the extra ventilation from that! There's this little other detail that I love as well, in that the inside placket of the zipper has been folded back on itself and tacked down in spots, giving it this channel that will direct water that might get through, to go down instead of into my clothing. What's more, is that they also built this channel into the side hip flaps, where I think it's going to make a lot of difference on how wet I'll get. The inside of the jacket has a textured finish that should keep me from feeling too clammy. The jacket is also a little longer than expected, it comes down to my fingertips in front and a little more in back, so it will definitely keep the rain off where I need it to. It also weighed less than it said, it came in at 8.9ounces on my scale, or 251 grams.Water beads off nicely, and it didn't wet out in the ten minute shower I gave it, will have to see how it does in longer rains. Nicely done Sierra Designs!

Dislikes

Not a huge dislike, as it would add weight, but I did try to fit the jacket into one of its own pocket, and the jacket is just too long to fit. I'm okay with that.
