Even with tinder, fire starting can be a trick, but the Vargo Ultimate Fire Starter certainly makes the task easier to manage. The starter's ferrocerium rod and scraper produce 5,000 degree F sparks that effectively ignite most tinder (not included). The rod is good for thousands of strikes and is fully replaceable. An extendable bellows lets you blow air directly onto the flame produced by the striker, enabling you to stoke your fire from a safe distance. A convenient carrying clip enables you to keep the fire starter close at hand.

The Ultimate Fire Starter weighs just 1.80 ounces. It extends to 18 inches, but collapses down to just 5.9 inches. NOTE: Tinder is not included.

well worth the money

able to make BIG sparks, which largely helps start your fire when you dont have a lighter. Also done burning my eyebrows off getting too close while blowing into the flame. wish i bought this years ago

when your hands are sweaty or wet it can be hard to grip the striker, but you get used to it, or you can rest it against the ground over your kindling
