Description

A versatile option for winter adventurers who travel a mix of snow-covered trails and icy road, Kahtoola EXOspikes provide hikers and runners with confident traction in a lightweight, low-profile design. They fit a wide range of footwear and offer reliable durability for repeated use and challenging conditions.

Utilizing a flexible TPE elastomer harness, EXOspikes attach securely to running shoes, hiking shoes, or casual footwear. They have an easy-to-use over-the-shoe design that doesn't require any buckles or straps. A raised heel tab makes them easy to pull on and take off.

Reinforcements on the harness at the connection points bolster durability. Each "foot" employs twelve carbide "spikes" imbedded in small cleats with secondary aluminum steps to ensure stable footfalls to comfortably maintain a natural stride. A TPU toe ball at the front of the harness helps to keep your shoe securely in place so fit and traction are optimized

Sold in pairs, Kahtoola EXOspikes are available in 5 sizes. The Xsmall best fits Women's US sizes 6-7.5, the Small best fits Women's US sizes 7.5-9, the Medium best fits Women's US sizes 9-11 and Men's US sizes 8-10, the Large best fits Women's US sizes 11-13 and Men's US sizes 10-12, and the Xlarge best fits Men's US sizes 12-14.

  • Twelve spikes per foot deliver three levels of traction; tungsten carbide spikes offer the initial bite on ice and packed snow, a lightweight aluminum step provides additional grip on uneven surfaces, and TPU lugs dig into slush and loose terrain
  • Open TPU matrix fully engages terrain while a streamlined geometry distributes dynamic spike movement, quickly sheds snow, and comfortably conforms to a wide range of footwear
  • Small cleats keep the TPU matrix firmly against the footwear outsole
  • Reinforced using durable TPU inserts, the patented eyelet design prevents tearing at each connection point
  • Integrated toe bail provides added security and prevents the toe from pushing through the front of the elastomer harness
  • Raised heel tab allows for easy pull-back and removal
  • TPE elastomer harness with eight attachment points provides a secure fit and allows for easy entry
  • Low profile and highly durable, harness remains stretchy in cold temperatures, down to -30° F

Exceeded Expectations

Ordered two pairs both in large, worn with 10.5 womens and 10.5 mens - fit both well. Lightweight, easy to take on and off. Felt study and provided traction on icy trails (zero slippage)

Gets the job done

I don't have to drill holes into my shoes for extra traction, these are pretty much out to replicate the trick where you drill bolts into your shoes for the winter, and so far they've been treating me pretty well. Hard pack snow and ice are the ideal conditions for these, with consistent ice/snow I pretty much fly down the trails in winter rather than being timid with every step.

Dislikes

A bit uncomfortable to be running on, but way less uncomfortable than microspikes. Just know that you will definitely feel these underfoot. Also if you have a mix of icy and dry terrain these can get pretty frustrating to have on, but that's the same with any other traction device as well
